I'm already nervous about posting this because I'm getting the vibe that authority is not to be questioned here. However I think some changes need to be made regarding the specificity of some rules due to inconsistent enforcement.
2. No spamming (Is this a certain number of times in a row? How often can the same thing be posted in chat?)
3. No excessive swearing (I know this can be derived from rule 4 of using common sense, but each mod defines excessive swearing differently. Again, we need numbers)
4. Don't be an ass use common sense (Being an ass is a subjective term. Again, this enforcement can vary from mod to mod. The goal is to have clear outlined rules.)
6. Treat everyone with respect (Golden rule, universal.)
10. What admins say goes. Do not argue. (This is a scary point here. A bit nazi like? I can see where this rule might have come from, but if I could delete one rule, it would be this. I know we're playing on your server, we're only guests, but do we really have to be treated like POWs?)
11. Don't use excessive caps. (Numbers again. At what frequency, the whole sentence or one word, how many in a row?)
More specifically I got muted for 1 word in caps followed by one sentence in caps for one hour. Someone says two sentences in caps and no staff or mod blinks an eye. This type of inconsistency is what makes chat not as fun as it could be, and truly degrades the experience on the server if you're someone who likes to chat.
Other important rules:
2. Arguments that are 4+ minutes will be dealt with by an admin (This is what all of the rules should look like. Any mod can understand this the same way. However, when I was having a civil argument about how the staff handles rules, I don't get a warning for any specific rule, I'm just told I can't talk about that here and get muted for ten minutes.)
In closing... I was enjoying this server before I began to learn how the mods and staff handle themselves. Changes need to be made and egos need to be checked. There needs to be clearer guidelines for the mods and staff to follow, otherwise chat truly is soviet Russia. And I'm sure I'll have an eye kept on me for talking about this, and hopefully this thread won't be locked in less than three days.
I would love for people to chime in with their own thoughts and concerns about this subject in a civil, yet uncensored manner.
