MCDrugs Skyblock is our unique version of Skyblock, with a drug-themed twist. Starting with a tiny island, a few blocks, and a handful of items, your goal is to expand your island, increase its level, complete challenges, and rank up, all of which will earn you access to new items, blocks, and abilities that will help further shape and grow your island in a unique way.

You can get to MCDrugs Skyblock by doing /skyblock from any world.

Quick Start Guide

Don't want to read the whole tutorial? We recommend coming back to read specific parts later, but if you just want to get into playing, here's what you need to know:

  • Use /is to get to your island. This is your own island, though you can invite others with the /is team commands (note that you can only have one island, if you join someone else's then you will lose yours)
  • Your island level is the rough value of your island and represents your progress. Most blocks have value (/value) that increase your island level when placed.
  • See what you unlock at each island level with /progress.
  • Drugs are unlocked at specific island levels, and cannot be planted until you unlock them. They also require the block you're planting them on to be fertilized. Fertilizer can be made by placing organic materials into composters. See /recipes for how to craft composters, and /compost for which items can be composted.
  • Generators give you access to new blocks and materials. See /gen to activate different cobblestone generator types. Check /recipes for the recipes to craft Jungle Wood generators.
  • Complete island challenges of varying difficulty for useful rewards with /challenges.

Getting Started

Skyblock Basics

A fresh island.

To start off, use /is to get your island. Everyone starts with the same basic island, and the following starting items:

  • 9 dirt/grass blocks.
  • 3 sand blocks.
  • An oak tree and oak sapling.
  • Two ice blocks and one lava bucket.
  • Two wheat seeds
  • Six mushroom stew.

Your goal is to use these items to expand your island. The first thing you want to do (after chopping down your tree for wood) is set up a cobblestone generator. This will give you access to infinite cobblestone (and some other items, see "Generators" below) to increase the size and level of your island.

Island Level

Your island level is the rough value of your entire island. Almost every block you place on your island has value, and your island level is based on the total value of all placed blocks on your island. Your island level will automatically calculate and update every few minutes, but you can also update it manually at any time with /level.

Block Value

Most blocks are worth points that add to your island level when placed on your island.

Some blocks have a cap on the amount of island points that you'll receive from having them on your island. For example, metal/mineral blocks (iron blocks, diamond blocks, etc.) are limited at 50,000 points each. This means that once you have, say, 50,000 points in iron blocks placed on your island, placing additional iron blocks will not further increase your island level.

To see the value of a block, hold it in your hand and use /value.

Level Unlocks

Representing the value and size of your island, your island level is an estimate of how far you have progressed. Many things, including drugs, generators, fertilizers, and more, are unlocked at specific island levels. As you reach higher island levels, you'll unlock these things automatically.

To see where you are in terms of island level progression and what you get at each island level, use /progress.

Generators

Generators are the main method of acquiring new items to build and expand your island. There are a few different types of generators, each with different reqiurements and harvesting methods.

Cobblestone Generators

The generator menu (/gen).

Use the /gen command to activate different generators that change what your cobblestone generator makes. The basic Dirty Cobble Generator that you start with will produce mostly cobble, along with a little bit of dirt, and rarely potatoes, carrots, and cocoa beans.

Ore Generators

Cobblestone generators are the main way of farming ores like coal, iron, gold, redstone, lapis, emerald, and diamond. Upon reaching island level 5, you unlock the Tier I Ore Generator, giving you access to farmable coal and iron ore. Better ores are unlocked through higher Ore Generator tiers at higher island levels.

Soil Generators

Along with ores, the cobblestone generator can be used to farm soils like dirt and sand. You unlock the Tier I Soil Generator at island level 5, which creates more dirt than the Dirty Cobble Generator.

You can only have one of either an ore generator or soil generator activated at once.

Jungle Wood Generators

Being a requirement to farm cocoa beans, jungle wood can't simply be farmed with jungle saplings. Instead, jungle wood is obtainable only through Jungle Wood Generators. These generators can be crafted (see /recipes for the recipe) and placed on your island, where they'll start generating jungle wood and leaves. Higher tier Jungle Wood Generators will produce jungle wood quicker.

Basalt Generators

Once you get to the Nether, you can start using basalt generators, which will give you access to many of the blocks from the nether, including netherite.

Drugs

As your island grows, you'll have more space to grow drugs. Skyblock shares the same type of raw drugs as the main gamemode, all of which can be grown on your island and sold at /spawn in the shops area. Growing drugs on Skyblock is a bit different from vanilla growing mechanics, requiring a few more steps.

Selling Drugs

Selling drugs on MCDrugs Skyblock is much easier than selling them on the main gamemode. To sell your drugs, go to /spawn and follow the redstone trail to the shop island. Here you'll find the Drug Dealer NPC, who you can sell your drugs to.

Unlocking Drugs

You start off only able to grow wheat. Even if you obtain seeds for other drugs, you won't be able to plant them until your island level is high enough.

Drugs are unlocked at the following island levels:

  • Wheat: Level 0
  • Carrots: Level 5
  • Potatoes: Level 10
  • Cocoa Beans: Level 20
  • Sugarcane: Level 30
  • Cactus: Level 40
  • Netherwart: Level 50 (Nether only)
  • Beetroot: Level 60
  • Pumpkin Seeds: Level 70
  • Melon Seeds: Level 80
  • Mushrooms: Level 90
  • Chorus Fruit: Level 100 (End only)

As you approach island levels that unlock new drugs, your generators will start to very rarely drop new drug seeds (see the "Treasures" section of the generator description).

Fertilizer

Once you have a drug unlocked, you can't just plant it like you normally would; you need to fertilize the farmland. Fertilizer is made by composters (see below) and will fertilize your farmland for a limited time, spanning from 20 minutes with Poor Fertilizer to 36 hours with Legendary Fertilizer.

To fertilize the block you want to plant a drug on, right-click the block with fertilizer in your hand. You should get a message, particle effect, and sound. You can right-click a block to see if it's fertilized, and how much longer it will stay fertilized for if it is.

Composting

Fertilizer is produced by composters. Most organic materials can be composted by right-clicking them into a composter, with some items filling the composter up more than others. See /compost for a list of items that can be composted and their compost value. Once a composter is filled up, you'll have to wait some time (higher tier composters are quicker), and then right-click the composter to extract the fertilizer.

There are 7 tiers of composter, with the first tier being craftable right from the start. To see how to make each composter, use /recipes. You'll need some mob drops for the first composter, so it's a good idea to get a mob farm started as early as possible.

As your island level increases, so does the quality of your fertilizer. For example, you start with Poor Fertilizer, which fertilizes for 20 minutes, and unlock Decent Fertilizer at island level 13, which fertilizes for 1 hour. There are five fertilizer qualities: Poor (20 minutes), Decent (1 hour), Standard (4 hours), Quality (12 hours), and Legendary (36 hours).

Challenges

The island challenge menu.

Challenges are one of the main ways to access many items, blocks, and special items that you would otherwise have no way to obtain. You can view the challenges while on your island with the /challenges command.

Challenge Levels

Challenges are divided into six levels: Beginner, Novice, Intermediate, Advanced, Expert, and Expert. Each level is roughly split into a specific range of island levels. For example, the Beginner challenges can all be completed before reaching island level 5, the Novice challenges before level 15, etc. In order to unlock a challenge level, you must complete at least all except one of the challenges in the previous level (e.g. if there are 10 Beginner challenges, you must complete at least 9 of them to unlock the Novice challenges).

Completing Challenges

Once you have met the requirements for a challenge, complete it by simply clicking it in the /challenges menu. If you have everything you need, you'll instantly get the challenge reward, so make sure you have some inventory room open. If you're lacking any of the requirements, you'll be told what you need.

There are two main types of challenges: inventory challenges and island challenges.

Inventory Challenges

Inventory challenges require you to have particular items in your inventory. The challenge will list which items are required. Often, the items will be removed from your inventory upon completing the challenge.

Island Challenges

Island challenges require you to have specific blocks or entities on your island. The challenge will list which blocks/entities you need, and how close they must be to you when you complete the challenge. The blocks/entities usually won't be removed, but for some challenges they will.
