One of the core components of gameplay on MCLabs is the crafting of chemical compounds from raw chemicals. The Chem Lab is the central compound crafting system, providing access to unlock new compound formulas, craft recipes, and purify your crafted compounds.

To get started, you can use the command /chemlab or /lab to open the Chem Lab GUI. From here you can complete all Chem Lab actions and navigate to any subpages. Read on in the sections below to learn more about each part of the Chem Lab!

Chem Lab Basics

Unlocking Formulas

Each base chem has a set of compounds that can be crafted within the Chem Lab GUI. However, in order to craft these compounds, you must first unlock their formulas.

Formulas are unlocked by ranking up on the server.

  • See the Ranks page for what ranks provide formula unlocks
  • You can see how many formula unlocks you have available by hovering over the nether star in the Chem Lab GUI
  • You cannot craft a compound in Chem Lab unless its formula has been unlocked

Crafting Recipes

Once you have unlocked the formula for a compound, you can begin crafting it through the Chem Lab GUI.

For example, if you have a carrot and potato farm, a great early-game compound to unlock is Cartatonide:

  1. Open the Chem Lab GUI with /chemlab
  2. Navigate to one of the base chems you are working with (e.g., Carrotenium or Potatium)
  3. Click on it to view all of the available compounds that are derivatives of the base chem
  4. You will now see:
    • The required base chems for the compound
    • The ratio of base chems to craft the compound
    • The output compound
  5. With all of the required ingredients in your inventory, you can then left click to craft as much as possible, or right click to craft once!

Note the ratio of base chems required to craft a compound! Make sure that you have enough base chems for the ratio, or else you will not be able to craft the compound!

Returning to our example, lets look at the Cartatonide Recipe:

  • This recipe requires these base chems:
    • 1x Carrotenium
    • 1x Potatium
  • This recipe yields this compound:
    • 1x Cartatonide

Note how this is a 1:1 crafting ratio, meaning that for every 1x Carrotenium, you will need 1x Potatium to craft the recipe. This makes the recipe one of the easiest recipes for beginners to start with!

Chem Names

From within the Chem Lab GUI, you can click on the nametag at the top-left of the GUI to view all Chem Names. This page splits all of the chems into three brackets:

  • Manual Chems
  • Automatic Chems
  • Refined Chems

Note that you can also access this page directly with the command /chemnames!

Chem Lab Calculator

The Chem Lab Calculator is a powerful tool that helps you plan your crafting and selling goals. To access the Chem Lab Calculator, follow these steps:

  1. Open the Chem Lab GUI with /chemlab and click on the redstone dust at the top-left of the GUI
  2. Navigate to the base chem that you would like to calculate on

Within the Chem Lab Calculator for a specific chem, you can modify the calculation:

  • Click on the Emerald to view the required inventories of the chem remaining to complete the prestige progress for the chem
  • Click on the White Cross to change the quantity of chems being calculated
  • Click on the Green $ to change the Money Multiplier
  • Click on the Pink P to change the Prestige Progress Multiplier
  • Click on the Blue L to change the Leaderboard Score Multiplier

From there, hovering over the chem in the center of the GUI will show you:

  • The quantity being calculated
  • The cash that will be generated from selling the specified quantity of that chem, after any Money Multipliers
  • The prestige progress that will be generated from selling the specified quantity of that chem, after any prestige progress Multipliers
  • The leaderboard score that will be generated from selling the specified quantity of that chem, after any Leaderboard Score Multipliers

You can use the Chem Lab Calculator to caclulate the results of selling your chems on boosts at various rates. Note that you currently cannot accurately adjust the calculator for different dealer rates, but this is a planned improvement coming soon!

Chem Lab Energy

Chem Lab Energy boosts your crafting efficiency when using Chem Lab!

Depositing Chem Lab Energy

To deposit energy:

  1. Open the Chem Lab GUI with /chemlab
  2. Left-click the Amethyst Shard in the top-right corner of the Chem Lab GUI
  3. Deposit any of the following materials for Chem Lab Energy:
    Material (1x)Lab Energy Output
    Coal3 Energy
    Copper Ingot4.5 Energy
    Iron Ingot12 Energy
    Emerald150 Energy

Using Chem Lab Energy

To use energy, right-click the Amethyst Shard in the top-right corner of the Chem Lab GUI! This will enable the use of Chem Lab Energy when crafting compounds:

  • +10% Output Bonus: Your output will be increased by approximately 10%
  • 0.2 Energy Per Craft: Each craft consumes around 0.2 energy from your stored supply
  • Chemtainer Deposit: Bonus chems will go into your Chemtainer

Chemtainer

Your chemtainer is where you can store your chems for quick access in other worlds, or quick storage while you're farming. /chemtainer or /ch to access the chemtainer GUI. Quickly deposit chems from your inventory into your chemtainer with /ch qd. Quickly move chems from your chemtainer into your inventory with /ch withdraw <chemname>, the chems that you have in your chemtainer will be tabbale. Your chemtainer will be able to hold more items the more you rank up. Check Ranks for more information on chemtainer expansion.

Chem Lab Purity

The Chem Lab Purity system allows you to purify crafted compounds in order to increase their multipliers. There are three main purity branches:

  • Value - How much a compound sells for at the dealer
  • Progress - How much prestige progress the compound gives towards prestige unlocks
  • Score - How much score the compound gives towards leaderboards, events, and missions

How Purity Works

Each chem has a three-number format that represents its purity levels!

For example: Glompkinide-2-0-3

  • 2 → Level 2 Value Purity
  • 0 → No Progress Purity
  • 3 → Level 3 Score Purity
You can access the Chem Purity Manager from within /chemlab.

Using the Chem Purity System

Using the Chem Lab Purity system is simple! To navigate to the configuration page, first open the Chem Lab GUI with /chemlab and then click on the Chem Purity potion at the top-right. This opens the Chem Purity Manager where you can:

  • See and adjust current values for each purity branch
  • See the cost-per-craft for your current purity levels
  • Deposit purity elements to be used when crafting

You can also use the command /lab purity <0-3> <0-3> <0-3> to manually set your purity values!

Note that you must unlock the chem compound recipe before crafting it. See the Ranks page for what ranks provide formula unlocks.

Purity Multiplier Effects

Each level of purity for a given branch has a multiplier effect when sold at a dealer:

Purity Boost Rates
Purity Type Level 0 Level 1 Level 2 Level 3
Value 1.00x 1.15x 1.30x 1.50x
Progress 1.00x 1.15x 1.30x 1.50x
Score 1.00x 1.15x 1.30x 1.50x

Purity Types

Purity types can be obtained using vanilla resources.
